Non fault car accident advice please! 👎

Please help. A couple of days ago a guy (who had a large dog in his car, mounted the kept of hit the front of my car whilst reversing.
He accepted fault and asked to pay me cash for the damage (it only looked like a new headlight) I told him I would get a quote and get back to him. I have had a estimate for the damage (now realised it is also wing damage and bumper along with headlight)
The guy in question is now stating her can not afford to pay so I have his insurance details. But the excess on my policy is more than the damage caused. Is there any way I can claim from his insurance without paying my excess. Any info would be of help! Thanks.

You claim the excess from the 3rd party with the legal cover.
  • Thanks, So I will not have to pay anything? From what I have been told I have to pay my excess and my insurance company will then claim it back from the third party, but I can not afford to lay out the cost of my excess right now.

contact his insurance company, often they will be pleased to deal direct.

You still have to tell your insurer but for information only

You may have to pay and claim it back.

Definitely this - in the day and age of accident management companies they'll be really pleased to save some (potentially massive) costs!

    Good luck.

Well if you went to a dealership, the cost will be at least double what you'd get quoted by the body shop that the dealership would send your car to anyway.
