Well E I am trying to illustrate the pros of AF. And like a reformed smoker I have to milk dry January for all its worth.

I love DMs. My last four houses have had working fireplaces since I refused to buy any without.

This one I am eyeing up a third woodburner for DD1's room and i have a fire surround waiting to go in our room when we open up the fireplace again.

DH told the girls to go to sleep at 1.30. They went quiet but basically havent slept all night.

DD is going to regret that when we take ponyplops out in the rain this afternoon!!

Bit naughty today. £13 on a pair of jeans for self.

Hey Alchemilla, do you still want us to challenge you on your spends? £13 doesn't sound bad for jeans though!!

So in awe about the dry January. Wish I had half of your will power!

  • Morning Alchemilla, I love reading about the fires. We don't have one in the UK but do in Portugal and whenever I smell a fire it transports me to my real home :). Sorry a bit whimsical for a Sunday morning.

£13 on a pair of jeans for you seems a massive bargain - should we be challenging you to spend more?

Good luck on your ride today - it looks like its going to be a pretty bleak and damp one today.

    Best wishes

Hi guys and thanks for your posts. You cant be too whimsical about fires. " Hearth and home" sums it up.

Well i now own two pairs of jeans. They are nwt mands ones off ebay.

The outdoors life wears ones clothes out faster.

I have made a million pancakes and the girls have been loaned wellies and sent with DH to give ponyplops her breakfast

Eta Earthie do challenge me. The Robinsons £50 was excessive but DDs riding boots also serve as wellies and the stuff i bought was 20% off and in the sale....

Thanks for giving me the clap!!

Greatest news...my hideous neighbours of old are putting their house up for sale. They dabble in the occult and have untreated mental health issues * which they like to blame on all around them so Thank God.

They are on their fourth set of neighbours and second move due to not getting along with people.

    * This is the kinder view than that they behave in an evil way.

ETA sent a parcel of small boy clothes to a fellow MFWer.

Your first comment made me almost choke on my tea as I started to laugh :rotfl:

Fingers crossed the house sells quickly and you can have better neighbours :)

    Hi Alchemilla :)

With Tilly on first comment making me laugh :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

But thank goodness your neighbours are moving :T

I really wanted a house where i could have a real fire - sadly finances dictated the house we have now and the fire is one of the reasons i still want to move :o - there are lots of other things on the list but this one is definitely on the *not willing to compromise on* list :D

I'm not sure i'm any good at challenging anyones spends at the mo. after treating myself to an awesome dress of stunningly weird goodness :D Twas in the sale and a mere snip at £20 - reduced from £65 :) and i have no immediate plans to wear it although i am plotting about that :D It was not 'needed' - although before xmas i was lamenting the fact that each year i usually buy 1 pretty dress - not the usual stuff that you see in every shop / on everyone else it seems but a dress thats gorgeous but as i say also odd as in different but amazing too which makes it just my style :D - can't you tell i like dresses and now it seems i've found it. I'm studiously ignoring the fact that it was not a real need although it will get worn

I saw your comment on Ed's thread about my weight - i am quite small so any extra weight really shows on me. I've quite a bit of weight to lose - as the doc has said too :(
