AEG Lavamat Washing machine

I have a 4 year old machine, we bought it as we beleived it was a good reliable make.
Today after a normal wash cycle but with a terrible noise on spinning, I emptied my machine to find the paddles had sheared off of the drum and had ruined my washing.
Is this a normal thing to happen? I have spoken to friends and not one of them has ever here'd of it?
Is this a design fault and do I have any come back?

You are entitled to a "reasonable life" of anything that you buy. Once an item is over 6 months old however it is up to you to prove (normally with an engineers report) that the issue is a fault and not from miss use or normal wear.
Even if you were to prove it is a fault however the vendor has the choice of if to repair, replace or refund. For any refund they are entitled to deduct from it the use that you have had before it broke.
Where did you buy it from? How much did you pay for it?
Whilst it is frustrating unless it was exceptionally expensive it is possibly more hassle than its worth if you only get 25% of its purchase price back or so0 -
We've always had AEG Lavamats but someone the other day posted that they are made/owned by Electrolux now so when my current one goes I'll be looking for another brand.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0
