All photos missing on android phone?

This has happened before, but then I switched off phone and they re-appeared. Now its happened again and I've tried the above, plus removing battery and still no success. It appeared to happen after I installed Adobe Reader and was messing around trying to open a document I photo'ed via the Reader
. I'd really appreciate some help, I've googled this problem (there are loads of similar threads) but there doesn't seem to be an answer.

One theory I've read, after googling, is the adobe reader app may of deleted the photos .
Anyone with any ideas on how to find them? I've a fairly important document that I need on it.

Can you attach to a windows PC with a USB lead?
If so, you could try and find them in the folder structure in windows.0 -

ok 1 possible theory :
The pictures are being stored on the phone's memory NOT on the SD card. So when you plug it into the PC you only see the contents of the SD card. Install a file manager app (ES File Explorer or Root Explorer) and see if you can look through the folders on the phone.Laters

Excellent. Many thanks.
I went on google play and installed a file manager (from Rhythm software). Looked through list and clicked on DCIM, then clicked 100ANDRO and all the photos were there!
However, although I can click on them and bring them up on "image gallery" and view each one continuously, they won't show on "xperia gallery" at all.The ordinary gallery now shows them just one at a time. (I have never seen the image gallery program before). How do I get the old photos onto the original old galleries? Otherwise, if I take a photo now I can open it fine and it can be viewed on which gallery I choose.0 -
look for a file called ".nomedia" it's an empty file. if it's there it's safe to delete.
The phone can take a while to scan the system for new pics, though it should do it at start up!
Not seen the Xpedia gallery program so not sure where it's looking for for the pics, might be the "Pictues" folder rather than "DCIM" folder
If in doubt copy them to the "Pictures" folder, Note you might end up with doubles listed in the gallery but you can tidy it up later once things settle down..Laters

You know your stuff, thanks again. The above worked! Not sure why the phone acted like this 'though.0
