Yes :) I only ever corresponde in writing and get a tracked letter sent! Think its time for some FOS threats! Even if they could shave a little off the interest, SC are giving them 109 a month and after charges and interest they have taken around 104 pounds, i wont get far paying a fiver off! lol Thank you :) x

    Hi

I've had the same fight on my hands many times over the past few years with different creditors and no matter how many times they have told me that they will not reduce interest, they will not accept my DMP payment as it is below their minimum , they will not change my statement date etc, I have never given up, and in the end no matter how long it has taken I have eventually ended up winning.

I would advise anyone in a similar situation to send a letter to the companies complaints department explaining their situation and how said company is not helping them to clear their debt within a reasonable time scale.

If that gets you nowhere dig up the name of the MD of said company and send him/her a letter

And as a last resort take the case to The FOS, even if you lose the case it will cost said company £500, now if your debt is less than £500 At least you will have some satisfaction knowing that if the company would of just helped you out whilst you were struggling then they could of saved themselves a few quid and a lot of hassle.

Creditors have no legal obligation to reduce or freeze interest but when a customer of theirs is struggling financially and is doing everything within their power to repay their debt, rather than bury their head in the sand then in my opinion they should do all that they can to help that person out, and charging £104 interest on a £109 payment certainly isn't helping anyone apart from the creditor. I used to pay one creditor £5 a month and they charged something like £4.99 interest a month meaning that I would die before the debt was repaid, I explained this in a letter and interest was frozen, so there is always hope.

    Rant over lol

I have issues like that all the time!

Have you tried to use the quote button? Much easier usually.

I agree with your post but I think the FOS will act before the company MD and remember even if you lose the case, it will still cost the creditor £500 for each complaint. So don't leave the FOS until the last resort.

Why does your user name show as !!!!!!!!!!2012 in a quote?

    Hi

I've no idea why that is happening.
You may be right regarding The FOS, I've only used them once or twice, however I have written to quite a few MD's :)

    Morning all,

Still no start date from SC if there is nothing in the post today I shall give SC a ring and see were they are up to.
I've also seen a little car so hoping to test drive that this afternoon.

  • Guys, can I ask a really dumb question? I'm still trying to get my new account sorted. I have no loans, but do have ODs with NatWest and with Lloyds. I'm trying to sort a co-op cashminder account but not finding it very straightforward! I had looked at Halifax...but as Halifax is owned by Lloyds, could they use the offset malarkey against an OD (if it's included in the DMP agreement) if I had a new account with Halifax? I'm so sorry that this is, I'm sure, a very daft question...and that I'm struggling to explain myself properly. All of this stuff is frying my brain (and I'm trying to deal with things with a two-year old poking at my screen, which isn't particularly helpful :rotfl:)
  • Morning all,

patator - I don't know the answer either unfortunately, not a silly question though, I am sure someone will be around with the answer soon!

I am feeling a little down today, I don't think its the money, its more everything else that seems to be falling around me, have taken some positive steps this morning to try and improve things, may need a trip to the GP to get back on my anti depressants (hoping I can cope without but we will see!)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend
