Surgeon saw me after and said it was the easiest op of this kind he's done in 20 YEARS despite there being so much metal to removeI even had an easier time with the anaesthetic than I was expecting and I was lucky enough to be the first general anaesthetic of the day and sat up eating toast by 1pm
Having a bit of a battle with pain relief as after a year on Px painkillers I've built up a tolerance but it's mostly bearable. Family are being fantastic and it's really not been as bad a birthday as I thought it'd be (and I won't be hungover tomorrow)
And it's certainly taken my mind off the debt all dayI will be reading when I canbut iI've got a rough few days ahead so may not post much but wanted you to know I'm okay as you've been wonderfully supportive on this as well as the debt.

Glad you are ok Kate, hope the recuperation goes well

Please can I get some advice. I've just decided to use Stepchange for my uncontrollable debt. Whilst waiting for them to set it up my bank has almost been cleared out from Payday loans !0

Welcome
Ouch. It's a shame SC didn't advise you to clear it first. I doubt you can get this back from them. Infact as its on their website you may have grounds for complaint. I'd call them and see what they advise. http://www.stepchange.org/Paydayloanguide/Helpwithpaydayloans.aspx
Challenging to offer direct support without having more specifics.
Have you money to live on for food travel and priority bills (mortgage and council tax)?

Hi and welcome jojosmokey75 :hello:
Am really sorry to hear about this problem. Did you try and cancel the continuous payment authority with either the pay day loan company or your bank? I really think Stepchange should have advised you to do this and it's pretty shoddy if they didn't.
If you did try and cancel it and the pay day loan still took the money and/or the bank allowed it, I think you can take action on this. If you are left short of money for priority bills, you will need to ask your bank to try and return some of the money but I am no expert on this and you may be better asking advice on the main DFW thread.
Hope you can manage to get this sorted.

Just want to say thank you to all debt free wannabes. For a few months, all I could think about was how I was going to pay the payday loans. It finally came to a head last month when I had 42 to live for the month. I contacted stepchange who were fab, I am loving sticking to their budget. For once I feel in control.I want to say thank you to everyone that has posted, you have changed my life beyond words.0

I couldn't wish to share my birthday with lovelier peopleI hope you had a good day despite the meeting. I managed to make a few jokes about it not being my first birthday spent unconscious, just that it was planned this time and a little earlier than previous occasions
I actually broke my leg 3rd May last year! I don't have much luck with birthdays lol!
Hope you have a great long weekend, it's always so nice to have a Bank Holiday around or on my birthday, I like to think of it as an extension of the celebrationThis year I got new crutches, three boxes of painkillers, god knows how many stitches and a guaranteed month off work! Actually I've been really lucky
I hope you've had a good birthday too HH
Have a great weekend everyone
