Its possibly more for the credit rating board but ill ask it here, i hve just entered a DMP and the only joint financial product I have with my partner is a mortgage. She has acredit card on a 0 per cent deal currently for a small amount, will she almost certainly be refused a new card if she tries for a new card to switch the balance?

    Hello Pickle :)

It sounds like a "standard" letter that they would send out so personally I wouldn't worry about it just yet but it's definitely worth speaking to SC and then the creditor.

Few questions for you, you mention that you're 4 months into your DMP - how many actual payments have been made? Is it 4x full payments or a couple with token payments and a couple of full? 4 full months they have received from us via sc ( we went from normal payment in October and sc payment nov, dec, jan, feb

Secondly, when you set up the DMP did you (or your OH) call and speak to them directly or did you rely on SC contacting them?
yes my hubby spoke to them in October re stepchange and DMP and they were really nice, but I wrote to them to ask to stop interest and they replied twice saying no, in both letters we mentioned DMP -- which is why we have now contacted the FOS
I only ask because if the first couple of months were token payments followed by a wait of another month when SC made a first payment then the letter could have been in the pipeline before the DMP came into effect? i know what you are saying but that's not the cars with this

Also, are you 100% that they know of the DMP? I only ask because Barclaycard claimed to not know about me entering into a DMP despite a letter from both SC and myself and were charging me fees and full interest until I called them... see above, yes

I'm an advocate for speaking to your creditors because it feels like you are more in control of the situation and by speaking to someone and recording the persons name, date and time of the call and any 'notable' comments you have something to refer back to :) thanks, I just don't know what we will say when we ring, they know aboutDMP, we can't afford anymore, do we just say that?

Many thanks, I will let you know how I get on x

Drat, I was hoping to pull a rabbit of a hat for you LOL

Ok, not much I can add other than to say "as you were" in that case I'm afraid... Sorry :(

    Hi,

Lidl has also become my shop of choice - can't believe how much you can save in comparison to my previous Tesco shop!

Try Aldi .... Far cheaper than Lidl and better quality meets we find.

Little update from me. I received a phone call this morning from the FOS. I complained to them about Creation charging me 9% interest which meant that on my payment of £36, they charged £32 interest..

Well.. Creation won't freeze the interest but have agreed to drop it to 3% which will be about £10 a month, I can live with that.. they are my only interest charging creditor and £10 interest on a total 60k debt can't be bad....

They have also agreed to refund interest and charges up to and including March totalling £297.....:T

Nice way to start the week....!

Great news, I have probably dodged a bullet with these then, I did have some with these but actually got a little 0% 6 months offer from another card last Autumn and managed to shift it all onto that. So it's with a more reputable lender now for my DMP.

Still not a peep here, DMP is active and I'm making the token payments but got nothing so far apart from emails advising that I have cancelled my direct debits so need to make sure I pay by other means.

Creation tried their little game on us by charging £100 on a £500 debt as an admin fee. Got them to refund it and they are not charging interest, but if we did not challenge it they would have gotten away with it. At least you were able to get them to drop the interest. It is like they try to kick you when you are down.
