Hi all welcome to the Newbies and the 'oldies' too. Some great posts on progress.
I unfortunately have had to go back to SC for the first time as my car packed in on the worst 5 week pay month of the year with a big bill. BUT SC were fine they let me refund part of my payment for this month to help with and instead of trying to find a cc with enough on it to add to my debt it just delays my DFD just a little so another positive from DMP as if i'd paid my cc they sure as heck wouldnt have given me the money to help this out.

Evening folks. Couldn't agree more about this thread. It is wonderfully supportive and encouraging and I haven't seen anywhere near the vitriol that you get over in the discussion thread in the Money Savers Arms:rotfl:
Well another complaint has been sent to the FOS about Halifax, so waiting on the outcome of that. I had a big loan with Nat West and after updating all my balances and going through my annual review with SC I realised that this big loan will be paid in 6 months. Another small CC amount will be gone in 3 months. It is so exciting to see these debts being cleared!! One by one they are biting the dust and I couldn't be happier.:DDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Evening all!
Bit of an update on what I've been up to... Not that exciting but I wanted to post
So I've started working on my Sealed Pot Challenge and have almost £50 already!!! Lots in there which I found or have saved, it feels a little weird having a pot of cash not using it to pay debts but I guess that come Christmas I'll be using that instead of my wages so I can pay a little more then!I've also saved £15 in Nectar points so that'll help too...
Also, since having it pointed out that "it's allowed" to make extra payments to my creditors I have made several small payments to my Barclaycard which I wouldn't be able to draw out from a cashpoint (I.e. if I check my balance and it's £153.86, I'll pay £3.86). I just totted up the extra I have paid since the end of December and it's almost £20!!!
Has anyone else ever done this? The weird thing is that I'm on a budget because of the DMP which isn't tight but it's not roomy either but despite this I seem to be budgeting around the extra payments and money potted? Does this mean I'm getting better with money or just slowly loading a rifle to shoot myself in the foot by the end of the month? LOL
Anyway, that's mecheers for listening!

Ok, got bored and have sent an F&F email to Cheque Centre using the template letter and asking for a written confirmation to be sent to my home address...
I was called a couple of months back from a fella claiming to be from their debt management team and offered a settlement figure of £400ish which is just under half of what the debt was at the time.
Obviously I refused, even if I had the money I wouldn't agree over the phone as there would be no evidence - I learned this from MSE
Anyway, I still owe them about £800 or so and have sent a cheeky offer of £230 because when I was speaking to the guy at the time he basically said "what can I offer, make an offer and it might be accepted"!
This is the same money that I would have used to repay Capquest and Welcome Finance from my brother
I'll keep you posted, it would be nice to knock £500 or so off my debts!
G'night,

Great news GUO re two going. Maybe a good time to reconsider car options in 6months time.

Hello all,
Quick update from me and some advice/reassurance please! 9 months in as all seemed to be going well, all creditors accepted dmp and stopped interest. However Aqua have sold on to 1st Credit who I think are going to be tricky customers and have already sent the "court action" letter already! Stepchange have been hugely supportive and contacted them with all the relevant information, hopefully they will accept but these letters have shaken me up a little!. Have googled 1st credit and apparently they are all talk and no action!! Slightly reassured by that but we shall see!!
Hope everyone is getting on ok and stay positive, there is a light at the end of the tunnel xx0 -
Hi, is it okay if I join in? We're in the process of setting up a DMP with StepChange.
I'm now swinging between relief that we'll have a reasonable amount of money for food etc again, and disappointment that I've let it come to this. But I know if it all goes through okay it will be a relief, it's just all just a bit overwhelming at the moment.0 -

Hi Lily,
It may reference court action but it's really just a scare tacticwhat I would do is contact them yourself to tell them that you've received the letter and that you are currently in a DMP being managed by Step Change which is ref... They'll almost certainly be fine about it and tell you the account is on hold for 30 day until they receive info from SC blah blah blah... You'll be fine trust me

Hi Raspberry,
Everyone is welcome here! The family grows by the daypost as much or as little as you like and feel free to ask as many questions as you need to
best advice I can offer is if you're worried then don't bottle it up! Which debt management company did you go with?
Give it a month or two and you'll be advising others and welcoming the newbies! LOL

Raspberry I am in the process too and this place is wonderful to let it all out. Yes I have had the exact same feelings but its not a crime to be in debt, everyones circumstances are unique to them as to how they have reached this point and no one should judge, but reaching this point is a positive. Happy to share experiences as ive swung from super stressed to back in control and vice versa this past week but my saving grace has been this site and the wonderful people here.raspberry22 wrote: »Hi, is it okay if I join in?
