Hi DD, I have posted some info on the above thread for you.

Hello peeps, hope you all saw in the New Year with a bang:D

I completed my annual review with Step Change today. Did it all on line and it was very easy. I had to spend some time today checking all my balances and updating them on the website. I have been able to increase my payment by only £8 a month. A bit disappointing but better than having to drop my payment! My salary went up a bit with the tax changes but OH's salary went down so we were actually worse off! I did then get a small pay rise of 1%. Some things have gone up, mostly my electric and heating oil, and rent. I have managed to get my car insurance down and internet costs. So all in all things are about the same, just managing to keep the status quo.

The Halifax are still piling on charges and interest so another complaint wending its way to them today.

The good news is that my total debt has just gone under the £25,000 mark:j

    Evening all,

Ok so not the most exciting update in the world but since I have sent the "stop charging me interest while I'm on a DMP please" letter to Barclaycard I have received a message to my account apologizing but advising that they are unable to provide a full response at this time...

    This has me kinda excited because it makes me think two things;

    1. They could be backed up in their NO responses to folk... or,
    2. They could be looking at how much interest they have charged and now need to repay before agreeing to stop charges :)

Ok, I appreciate that these are both black and white answers but for a first go I'm being optimistic LOL

I'll post a further update when I get a reply confirming either way!

    Laters all,

MB, did you use the contact us facility or did you contact them on the email address you were given in the end? I've just contacted them as well as they are one of the only ones still charging interest, albeit at a reduced rate.

    Hi Debtdawg,

I got a response back to the message I sent using the 'Contact us' facility, everything else just seems to be getting ignored or comes back as undeliverable.

As soon as I get anything useful or interesting I'll update the thread :)

I had a 'we've passed your message on to the relevant department' message back, if I hear anything else I will also update :)

Hi all. Haven't been here for ages so thought I'd do an update/introduction.
We started a DMP with Debtline (I know, I know) in February 2011. It got us out of an awful place at the time and we carried on for over 2.5 years. However, this year we decided to take the bull by the horns and dump Debtline, they were charging us £60 a month for their services which is ridiculous. We rang all our debtors and they were all happy to accept a payment plan set up and managed by us. We increased all our payments slightly and only 1/10 refused to freeze interest. We now have a brilliant spreadsheet set up by my husband which shows all the figures. We started in October and have so far paid off 4% of our £21,000 debt. It feels brilliant to see it going down. We would ideally like to be debt-free before Christmas 2016.
In March my husband will make his final £300 payment on a debt to his dad that he kent us when we needed a new boiler. We have decided to put an extra £200 into the debt and save the other £100. I know the advice is to put all available money into the debts but we have no savings at all and no way of getting credit if anything should come up. My husband's car is getting quite old now....
Tonight we have gone through the spreadsheet putting in the figures we think we will pay off throughout this year, also including the £100 payrise my husband will get in September. Obviously it is only approximate but we think we will have paid off 37% by the end of this year which means we will definitely be on track for our target.
    January 2019 Credit card 1 £1241.22
    Credit Card 2 £5641.40
    Next £1304.06
    Very £2033.02

    Total debt: £10229.70

    Evening all,

Painkillers not working overly well tonight so I'm literally typing this while laid on the floor of my bedroom with my knees in the air. Still, they give me something to rest my tablet on as I type...

I can't do much but what I can do is see what little extra I can make as a payment to my creditors... Not much but I've just paid an extra £2.62 to Barclaycard :)

Now I need to find something else to do and try not to fall asleep on the floor as I won't be able to stand up in the morning... Joy of joys...

    G'night all!
