    Evening everyone,

Sounds like things are looking up again Mon1o, it is a real roller coaster, but I think you get stronger with every dip you survive?

Equilibrium, I'm not sure about the issue with Next, I'm sure they realise your DMP is not a short term thing - its not very realistic/sensible of them to expect you to start re-ordering again, how do they think you are going to pay?

Maybe its another one of those 'just keep going on the DMP payments' and ignore them?? Sure someone else on here will have some more relevant advice for you though.

It does feel odd when the creditors stop calling, for months I used to look at my phone expecting to see a missed call, even after the calls had stopped. It saddens me a bit that my friends stopped calling because I had the phone on silent so much, I will have to work a bit harder I think to restore some of my distance friendships.

Good luck with it, sounds like you are feeling positive too

Sazzie - I think Im getting there slowly. Its just hard. But there is more to life than debt. I have a good job, a fantastic hubby, 3 beautiful children and they are what keep me going every day. Everyone on this board has been so helpful and supportive in what has been a challenging week. Today we have had a family day with my dad and sister, just what I needed.

Lol puzzcat! Don't forget that huge chunk of money you give to charity too and the 10 magazine subscriptions !
    Xx

:rotfl::rotfl: Done all this! I knew from the outset that myself and OH would never manage on a shoestring so I put in for everything I could. Yes it will take longer to pay everything back but I am happy to do this in exchange for a less stressful life.

It has been a very expensive week with car repairs on OH's car but I am happy to report that my car got through the MOT with no problems. Happy days:D

Great news on the car GUO :j

We know ours won't make another MOT and luckily can put some redundancy money aside for a replacement but in true :money:style, we will keep this one going for as long as we can :D

Hi everyone. I am a lurker on here, who has occasionally posted when Ive needed good advice.. We have been on our DMP for nearly a year now and are doing quite well. Most of our accounts are now at 0%, some for which we have had to fight quite hard for! My hubby and I both have barclaycard accounts and these are both at interest of 3%- when our DMP started we were quite pleased with this, but now all the others are at 0%- I was wondering whether to see if we can get them to 0%- has anyone else had any success with them?
My next question is related to defaults... about half our accounts currently have defaults, but the rest do not- should we write and ask for defaults??? As know these will be on our file for 6 years and feel they should be on for now.. as I am hoping that once our DMP is over we may be able to get a new mortgage eventually etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

We don't have debt with Barclaycard but I know from other's posts that they seem to be a tough one to get down to zero interest. They seem to have some sort of system based on your payment, check out this thread for more details:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4377219

If you haven't already officially complained to Barclays about the interest, do so now and if you don't get the result you want, take if to the FOS. If you need any template letters, let me know.

We are 21 months into our DMP and still only have 2 defaults and I had to ask for both of those! If you want more credit after your DMP is over, the earlier you get a default is obviously the better. Have you checked your credit record to see how your payments are being recorded? If marked as arrangement to pay or DMP, these can last much longer than a default, i.e. 6 years after your last payment, so it's worth trying for the default now. If you do this, also try getting the default backdated to 6 months from the start of your DMP.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on :)

Thank you TTFTM. I will have a go at Barclaycard.. altho looking at the thread you posted, it looks like 3% might be quite good from them!
I have only looked at my credit file on Noddle.. as it's free. I cant see anything on there about DMP or arrangement to pay- maybe I need to look at a different credit agency? Are there any templates letters available for asking for defaults? I used the other template letter when fighting for 0% and it worked a treat! Thanks a million.

I use Noodle too, go into financial account information, then into one of your individual accounts. Mine shows the year, then the months, each month has a green or a red dot then letters underneath, e.g. DM (DMP) or AR (arrangement to pay) or D (default). Check to see if yours has these and let me know, there is a chance that you are paying above minimum payment, in which case it may show as account up to date.

I don't actually have a letter asking for a default, I asked for both of mine in telephone calls to Lloyds TSB and M&S. They both seemed very surprised and resisted saying I did not understand the implications blah blah. I managed to convince them that I understood perfectly and eventually got the default. Now all I have to do is get the other 5 to agree :D

Thanks TTFTM, I never realised you could open the account-duh!!! What a wally! So mine are looking like:
    Barclaycard-up to date. AR
HSBC CC-Late payment SUSTAINED ARREARS ??
    Halifax CC-Default
    MBNA-Default
HSBC loan-late payment EARLY ARREARS ??
    HSBC overdraft-Default
    Next- Up to date AR

So a real mix bag!! I may try and ring them and ask for defaults. Any idea about the arrears ones?? As been on the DMP the whole time its showing these arrears? Thank you.
