Do your nieces go to the local beach a lot, have they ever done it in winter?
My daughter and niece are on the beach in all weathers when we go visit my mum, as she lives near the beach (we don't have one within 2 hours drive of us). They love walking and playing along the beach in winter, with their wellies, coats and gloves on.
Could you walk from say the beach to a playpark nearby, or to a little cafe and treat them to a drink and some cake?0 -
some great suggestions - I'm thinking a drive to the beach could be fun! Or maybe the bowling.
I'm not babysitting - just visiting - although while I'm there I like to let the parents 'rest' so to speak. When they visit here (Belfast) they stay at my parents house and I like to take the girls out and about to the beach/shopping/cinema/playparks/ikea etc and let them do the more laidback adulty stuff as they always look ready to drop when they get off the plane!
10year old can be quite badly behaved but seems to think I'm the cool aunty - at the moment at least - so she can behave for me if kept out and about and busy - can be quite horrible to her Mother at times though:o
In the past I have visited with my partner and then once with my parents so haven't been on my own before so just wanted to have a couple of ideas of things to do. Also SIL can take the pi$$ sometimes regarding money so don't wana be taken for a ride...last time I went ended up spending the guts of £60 on children's shoes  when we only went out for a coffee!!0
