and even the Trussell Trust’s own research recognises the effect their marketing activity has on the growth of their business.
People didnt know about food banks before. They knew even less about how to access one. Apparently, all it takes is a dopey CAB employee and a food bank charity that has a vested interest in promoting itself as being invaluable'. Go on...tell us how much the chief executives of that Trust get paid...bet they arnt working for minimum wage.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Repeating your assertion doesnt make it any less disingenuous. The Reporter was not asked anything more than the most cursory of question. Name, address, date of birth and reason for visit. No checks were made, nothing more than basic questions were asked as to why he needed the charity.
Does it bother you more that the reporter wasnt working for the Independent, or that he hit on a basic fact that you have yet to refute? The system is easy to game and the Reporter has proved it. Therefore, conclusions drawn from statistics supplied on numbers of people 'needing' food bank assistance are, at best, suspect.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Hi
Arrrr... you getting abusive towards the CAB again coz you have lost the argument
Have you worked in a CAB? do you know what you are talking about or is this just an ignorant laughable political rant.
Benefits are much more rigid now than they have ever been
Another article here on the Bedroom Tax
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/food-bank-users-triple-bedroom-2426532
These situations are real enough the courts are very busy with possession hearings the trouble is that there are not enough downsized properties for people to go.
Maybe the Mail under cover reporter can comment - love it if he turned up at a CAB not far from me with his lies:)

Why, is it a prerequisit to have an opinion that is left leaning and blinkered.Depth_Charge wrote: »do you know what you are talking about or is this just an ignorant laughable political rant.
My thoughts on your comments, almost exactly.Depth_Charge wrote: »Benefits are much more rigid now than they have ever beenDepth_Charge wrote: »Another article here on the Bedroom Tax
Tax still requires that you actually earn the money before it is taken from you.Depth_Charge wrote: »These situations are real enough the courts are very busy with possession hearings the trouble is that there are not enough downsized properties for people to go.
Try getting a job and paying for your dwelling yourself. No bedroom 'tax' then.Depth_Charge wrote: »Maybe the Mail under cover reporter can comment - love it if he turned up at a CAB not far from me with his lies:)
You still havnt said what he lied about? He gave (as far as we can tell) his name, address and other details requested. The only thing he made up was WHY he was asking for a food parcel. A transparent lie that could have been rumbled in about 5 minutes by the CAB asking to see some form of proof of benefit entitlement. They didnt bother preferring to simply bat him on down the line and making a mark in the 'poor helpless and starving' column.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Hi
You will be trying to tell us all next that he went with genuine independent intentions.
He lied and wasted the CABs time, the headline was another blatant lie, that seems to be OK with you but you cannot defend it that's why you are trying to smoke screen issues
Its nothing to do with politics or individual reporters with me as it seems to be with you.
I deal with these issues everyday, they are real, can be tragic and upsetting at times but we carry on and always will.
You have clearly lost the argument as you never really had one in the real world and neither has the so called Mail 'food bank' under cover reporter.

Yes. You actually have to prove you are attempting to look for work, but the actual number and types of benefits have increased beyond all sense.

Hi
So you have not worked at a CAB and know nothing about them or how they operate.
You were not present at the CAB in question either
I doubt whether you have any real knowledge of the benefit system and probably refer to ignorant one liners you have read somewhere and referring to 1983 has nothing to do with anything
You lost the argument way back, fell into the trap and are now grasping at straws and have been found out with your politically motivated ignorant rants.
Give it up as you are starting to look politically exposed and silly

Stop ranting and frothing and answer the questions.
1) What did the Reporter lie about? He gave the information asked for.
2) Why didnt CAB ask to see some form of proof of entitlement to benefits?
3) How much do the Chief Executives of the Trussel Trust rake off personally in salary? Clue : it isnt minimum wage, I'll tell you that for nothing.
4) If only nine days of food parcels can be provided in one year, why arnt we seeing people dying in the streets of starvation when they have exhausted the 'charity'? Surely, their immediate problem takes more than nine days to solve. What do these people do for the other 356 days of the year if they are so destitute that they have no other choice but to go to a food bank?
5) Why, back in 1983, when there were pushing 7 million unemployed, didnt we need food banks then?Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Hi
You forgot the CAB abuse this time, the dopey bit
You have been exposed as knowing nothing really about the CAB or the benefit system
Asking questions about salaries now, is that the new line, what a dead give away
It wont work with me you are talking to a very experienced person in benefit and debt advice now.
You have lost the argument and debate hands down give it up, its getting embarrassing for you and the political motives.
Im not into the politics side so I will leave you with it this time
Thanks for the debate and this may come as a surprise but I do respect your opinions

Try looking the office of national statistics which give the unemployment rates for every year. I picked 1983 because it was a particularly biting year. It was the year I watched our next door neighbour standing in the street crying with two suit cases and her two small children while she watched the council board up her house. My father was made redundant three times that year. We existed on bread and jam morning, noon and night for over 100 days. I remember standing in the benefit hall for 2 hours with my father as he pleaded with the 'social' for a grant to feed us. I could quote 1994 also. That was the year I starved for almost three weeks because the DWP told me that I wasnt entitled to any benefits because I had never worked before. The fact that I had an invalid father and no family to speak of didnt seem to bother them much. My point is, we and many many others survived just fine without food banks.
Just to put that in perspective...I recently did a fantasy 'what could I get if I found myself out of a job'. I was much relieved to find that I could claim £21000 at least. I was so happy because I know for a fact that I can feed a family of 5 for £150 a month. I can feed that family good fresh whole food for that price. Anyone who claims they are unable to do so, should seek urgent help, because it absolutely is possible, with some will and effort. But that is the problem isnt it...no will and no one is prepared to make an effort. The food parcel that the Reporter was given was pathetic and I would have handed most of it back as useless. These food banks need to be shut down and re-opened to supply properly calibrated food parcels to those who REALLY need them. In a properly run, fit for purpose facility, that Reporter should have been booted out on his ear in under five minutes.Depth_Charge wrote: »You lost the argument way back and are now grasping at straws and have been found out with your politically motivated ignorant rants.
