Call to mobiles in Jersey (Channel Islands) via TalkTalk

Options
Hi,

Could not find any numbers using the Call Checker for calling Jersey. Cannot find them listed (neither under UK nor under International destinations).

Been using Skype, but they charge over 20p per minute.

Can anybody help, please?

Thanks,
Gidra

I believe 18185 treat CI Mobile Numbers the same as UK Ones.

Access via a 0808 freephone number 5p connection. 10p/6p a minute depending on time of week.

You don't say what you are using to call - mobile, landline? Each originating network will have its own tariff rates - so armed with the mobile code you plan to dial, check the tariff and the charge band to be used for billing.
  • Sorry, it was calling using the TalkTalk landline, but calling a mobile in Jersey.

Assuming you're talking about a UK mobile, it will cost the same as calling a mobile in the UK (Talk Talk doesn't know where the mobile is).

However, I'd strongly recommend you use 18185 via their freephone access number 08081 703703.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If its a Mobile Number allocated to Jersey that your calling my original advice still stands.Use 18185.

But if your just calling a UK Mobile roaming in Jersey,TT will just charge the normal UK mobile rate to call it.

Jersey had these numbering ranges allocated.

    Mobile Phones - Jersey Telecom
    +44 7797, Mobile Phones - Sure Mobile+44 7700, Mobile Phones - Vodafone Mobile+44 7829.

There are several other prefixes involved:

See http://www.cicra.gg/telecoms/legal_framework.aspx (scroll down to table 4).

Don't forget Guernsey and the Isle of Man also have several mobile and other allocations.
Businesses using 084, 087 or 09 numbers will soon need to display details of the inbuilt Service Charge under Ofcom's "unbundled tariffs" plans.

Businesses using 084, 087 or 09 numbers for customer service, complaints, renewals, etc, will need to swap to an 01, 02, 03 or 080 number before the Consumer Rights Directive comes into effect June 2014.
  • For those calling the channel islands (including Jersey) prepare for a big bill. It is not the same as calling UK Mainland in regards to mobiles and I know Three regard Jersey as International calling.

After heated words with Three I got a refund as i complained I did not dial any international prefix.

Find the exact area code code and consult with your mobile/landline provider.
