Has anyone done a part-ex at Car Giant? Just wondering if their part-ex values are any good.

They weren't the best, in fact it was rock bottom, when I had my car valued there but it was a straight price against any of their cars, not, as most dealers do, higher against one car than another.

Most car sheds will only offer you 'X' against any of their cars, and it will tend to be a minimum of £500 under bottom book. As an example when I had just left the trade I tried trading our Scenic in at Motorpoint Derby, I knew exactly how much our Scenic was worth (1.6 1999 V mid range, good colour, good spec, 2 owners, £2000), they offered £1500.

    Noooo, never Part-ex a car.

Dealers tend to offer only 40-60% of the market value of the car. You'll do much better selling it privately and putting the cash towards you're new car.

Nomally I woudlnt but I just havent got enough cash right now to buy a car and then sell the other one afterwards (one 1 car in the house and its needed daily). Also, I got my current car cheap so I dont mind losing a bit in p-ex.

A few years back my brother-in-law was offered £200 by Cargiant for his Rover which should have been worth £500-£600. So I advised him against it and drove it home so he could drive back in his new car.
It broke down the next day, never moved again and was towed away for scrap!
    Can I help?
