TCA, you've probably seen it but this FT article has some interesting comment.

I'd go easy on the allocation though.

Cheers. Makes for good reading. Citywire also with an interesting article about Frontier Markets by David Kempton on Monday. Volatility is the name of the game for sure. You're right on allocation - if I buy it'll be a minimal monthly amount that I'll write off as soon as I hit the gamble button!

Hmm... one approach I'm wondering about is switching in some funds before the deadline, and then changing my monthly savings to build up the funds I just switched out of. That does put me a bit more exposed to EM for a while than I would like, but will hopefully sort itself out in time.

I've done exactly that this week. My timeframe is a long one though so don't mind a bit of overexposure to EM for a few years.

Looking at the balance of Aberdeen Global Emerging Markets Smaller Companies Fund in my Best Invest investment account and I notice "this asset is not tradable".

How would I get my money out of this fund then? What's the score?

I intended contacting BI to ask the same question but never got round to it so can't help. I don't have a large sum invested in this fund and decided to leave it alone until such time their platform charging structure forces a sale. I moved everything else to CS and clean pricing around April.

I emailed Best Invest re the inability to sell ABERDEEN GLOBAL EMERGING MARKETS SMALLER COMPANIES D2. Reply just came back:

"The reason that you cannot sell this fund yourself is because it is soft closed. If you would like to sell or switch the holding, you just need to get in touch and we can do it manually for you. Please get in touch on 0207 189 9999 and we will be more than happy to help"

Let's hope that doesn't incur their £75+VAT telephone transaction charge... I can't imagine it would but if so it's a tad ridiculous.
