Mitre Cuts

Could someone please help me and tell me how much a joiner would charge to make a mitre cut on my new kitchen worktops.

Hi,

I had the same issue - quotes from joiners were between £150 - £250 for aprox 12m with only one join (oak worktop). In the end, I gave a desk away on freecycle, it was collected by a kitchen fitter who charged me a day's labour (£125 cash) and he did a very good job.

Do you just want mitre cuts made and then fit the worktop yourself or do you want someone to fit the worktop?
Phone a couple of local kitchen fitters. They should be able to price something like that over the phone if you tell them whats needed.

Can your suppliers to the cuts? We bought our kitchen worktops (laminate) from a local timber yard who I think quoted us £30 per join and another £30 for each whole cut out (so it would have been about £120 for all the cuts).

We ended up buying a router, borrowing a worktop jig and doing it ourselves (which was very slow, messy and expensive because my father-in-law mis-measured one of the worktops so we ended up having to buy a replacement!). In hindsight we would have been better paying the supplier, but I keep telling myself that we'll use the stuff again in our next house...
