I am in receipt of working families tax credit which may exempt me from court costs. I have been to the small claims court about a matter I want resolving. On 6th April I rang the Small Claims court to confirm what paper work I needed and explained I was in receipt of working families tax credit, I explained that the paperwork proving I was in receipt of WFTC was just out of date, like the 5th April but am still in receipt of WFTC.

They said I needed paperwork to prove I am still in receipt of it. So I rang WFTC helpline but some message says there computer isn't working. Eventually I spoke to some explained the situation, and asked would it help if I went to local tax office, they replied saying it might help.

I went into the tax office and explained the situation. They told me that they cant do anything but confirmed that I am still in receipt of this. But gave me nothing to prove that I am.

I went to Small Claims Court and explained the situation. They told me for all they know I may not be in reciept. I said to them why not ring the tax office or I will ask them to ring you up to confirm that I am in receipt of WFTC. They told me that for all they know it could be me ringing them up claiming to be the tax office, and that they cant ring then because of teh dats protection act.

I put it to them if I wanted to defraud the Small Claims Court I wouldnt be doing it for £30 and I could have come in the day before had I known that the WFTC form was out of date, that woudl have saved me all this grief.

Now I am getting peed of with this. They told me that no one else has this problems, but is a new tax year !!!!!!, of course peopel will. I have statemnets form the bank still showing paymenst one paid in yesterday fro WFTC.

I cant seem to get them to do anything. I have asked the WFTC helpline to send me anything to prove I am still in receipt, they said they can add £1 to my payment so it would automatically send a new form out and that they couldnt do this until Friday last week because of computer problems.

I aint got the up to date paperwork to prove I am getting WFTC, but I feel the courts are doing begger all to help, they must have other people who are going through this.
