Dog grooming kits

Hiya can anyone recommend a dog grooming kit suitable for a Lhasa?
My Bonnie has always been to the groomers, but she really, really hates going and now she is blind and deaf (she's 17) I think it's unfair of me to take her. She is getting really very shaggy now though, so I was thinking of trying to do her myself. Is it easy? And there seems to be a bewildering array of grooming kits available and I have no idea what's good.
Thanks.

I have a tin which over the years has been filled with a mixture of things.

A good pair for hairdressing sissors, the best you can aford really.
1 pair small sissors ( Pets at Home) for around the eyes
1 large and 1 small comb.
    Tweezers
    Thornit Powder for Ears.
    Nail clippers and nail file
Pethead spray on conditioner. A godsend for nasty knots.
    Cotton wool.
    A self sticking bandage.

As you can see you dont need to spend silly money, a comb and sissors would do you for starters.

I would just use a good conditioner and a large comb for her if she was mine. Do a bit at at a time and trim around her eyes and bottom to start off with.

I keep Oliver tidy ( and used to Teeg) inbetween grooms and I just follow the shape. Doggies dont care if we make a mistake its us humans that worry. Just give it a go. xx

PS I would also try the dry shampoo if your girlie isnt up to a bath. There are some great ones onthe market now.
