First ever negative - advice

As a buyer, I wouldn't ask for a refund from someone who says "no refunds" because I would think they meant it.
My private account says not returns - but not only do i accept returns - i pay return postage.
But i don't put it - cos i dont want people buying something to see if it matches their shoes
But i believe buyers should ALWAYS contact the seller first - and thats Ebays policy too - though they don't enforce it.0 -
One other thing, never ever sell for anyone else, it always seems to cause problems as you are not 100% in control. Always help them set up their own account and sell through that.
Was selling 2 items of clothing for someone else and got a negative for
"smell disgusting".I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. A point made clear with the guy selling the car for 'someone else'.
I used to do it - when Ebay was more fun than hassle - but would't now peoples accounts are always at risk.0 -

I think most buyers would ask the question rather than be £x out of pocket.
I have left the default setting of "no returns" for most of the reasons stated above.
Thanks to everyone for their advice, I have contacted the buyer and await a repsonse.0 -
My only advice would be not to sell for anyone else.
My family often ask me to sell bits and pieces as they know I have a knack for it but it's asking for trouble!0 -
The last few things I've bought stank of smoke - they were really horrible. It dawned on me that it was always items that were taken in by my neighbour and it was actually their smoke that made it awful.
One of the items was only with them for 20 minutes and the outer package stank. I'm just glad that I didn't give the people poor feedback - I'd have felt very guilty when I realised.
It seems to be that people who do smoke at home just can't smell it, i supposed they are just so used to it.0 -
You can't get away with storing clothes in a garage, it's damp, no wonder the buyer complained.0

Just respond to the neg with "please return item for a full refund if not satisfied".
Other than that, not a lot you can do, and the type of buyer that leaves a neg without bothering to contact you probably won't remove it!
How do you respond to negative feedback?
Edit - Worked it out now.0
