Hello,
I have been living in a rented property for 6 months in a fixed term contract.
I have to renew that fixed term contract now and I wonder whether I will have to stay another 6 months or I can leave before it expires, giving the 1 month notice that reads in the contract.
Thanks

If you sign a new 6 month contract you, and the landlord, are committed for ..... 6 months.

After 6 months your contract goes onto a periodic tenancy where you need to give one calendar months notice and the landlord has to give you two.
Check the AST very carefully0 -

No you don't have to... Simply do nothing and the tenancy continues, month by month, until someone ends it...
The "have to renew" comes, perhaps, from a letting agent wanting his fee?? (He's charging you to renew?? - illegal in Scotland btw...)0
