Hi all, one of the screens that faces the customer in my local co op never works, although there are tills either side of the one that dosnt work, they always seem to use the one that dosnt work. I myself always stand near a working till and ask them to '' OPEN A TILL THAT WORKS '' . As I feel its a case of the staff being to afraid of reporting it to head office, my question is. Is there a legislation somewhere that I can shove in there hand to make them fix there till, as I feel there is a bigger issue here than just a screen that '' DOSNT WORK ''. Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi there.
Have you tried speaking to the store manager about it? It may be that it has been reported but IT are awaiting new parts or the store may be having a refit sometime soon.
It may be that they have simply forgotten to report it, but try having a word with the manager. Most of them will welcome been told about problems that they may have not noticed - trust me its easy to get bogged down with the paperwork as a retail manager!!0 -
Your receipt will confirm the prices charged hence the reason you are reminded to always check your receipt before leaving any shop.
Whether or not the screen at the checkout works has no bearing on how the till operates or what prices you are charged.0 -
OP would hate my co-op, they don't even have screens facing the customers.0

I worked in a co-op and the screen was broke on my till. The lady i was serving had an attitude from the start, she complained to me that my screen wasn't working,i apologised and tried to turn my screen around so she could see the items being scanned. She still wasn't happy and reported me to the manager.I had to go in the office and be spoken to.They thought the lady was a joke but it's one of the reasons i won't work in a shop again. It's unbelievable how rude and picky some people can be and what they complain about.0

My local co op never has the screen facing the customer and NEVER offers a receipt. Customers have to ask for the receipt that is only printed out on request amidst much puffing and blowing from the assistant...!0

check your receipts i am constantly overcharged in there :money:
either a reduced item sticker hasn't covered the bar code properly meaning original price is charged
or a double scan
or a so called multi save deal that hasn't quite made it onto the system
to be fair they are always reasonable and apologetic when refunding the over charge at the customer cig counter
co op has a reputation for being pricy, i have noticed a few good deals creeping in there lately if you are selective though and get the bulk of your grocerys elsewhere :money:
as for broken screens, a nuisance, but if you check your receipt on the way out and have been done over then you can get the customer services to sort it out, luckily our co op is so expensive and remote there is never much of a queue :money:squaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -
There are times when you go in a shop with say £10 and at the risk of DP calling me names - I don't always add up every penny of the stuff I buy.
Also as I do I like to get reduced items and often they dont scan as reduced.
So I probably wouldn't expect a new till to be opened - just ask for the receipt and check it0 -
I dare not ask for receipt in my local Co Op express, they take absolutely forever to scan the stuff let alone working out how to issue a receipt0

Why don't you just vote with your feet and use a different grocery store? You feel they are afraid based on what, do the staff sit at the tills shaking and looking around nervously?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
