C.C. fees not charges!

Have been going through a load old paper work and found a load of statements from The Co-op Bank for a credit card (this was formerly with Northern Rock). Looking through them I found that I was being charged a flat £6 per month "Card Fee" even if I was not in arrears. I have no idea what this was for. I closed the account about two years ago when I moved to France, where I am now resident.
Question 1.Is it worth claiming back this "Card Fee," as over several years it adds up to a useful chunk of money.
Question 2. As I am no longer resident in the U.K. is making a claim straightforward and are they likely to either ignore it or use the fact that I live abroad as a reason for not paying it. I say this because some UK banks will not even write to me here and everything has to get here via U.K. accommodation address.
Thanks
