My advert not showing on Gumtree

I advertised an item on gumtree a fortnight ago. Was surprised not to get any response went back to check on my item - it is not there! Did different searches and nothing comes up. Also used the reference they give and nothing. Went back to my account and clicked on the item (is is showing as live) but nothing there. Yesterday I got email from gumtree saying that my item is coming to an end soon and instructions on how to renew it.
I emailed them 2 days ago but haven't heard anything. Their chatline is busy. The phone number supplied is 0905 something which I guess is premium rate.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Suggest you just re-run the ad and keep a closer eye on it.
I've not had your particular problem, but Gumtree can be glitchy, and their customer support is useless.
Note if you're a new user you may find your adverts take several hours to appear.0 -
I am not a new user - have used it since 2006. Haven't used it for the last 3 months or so as I get such useless replies who never respond!
Anyway I still haven't had a reply to my email. The chat helpline is still "busy". I did manage to get a geog no from "say no to 0870 numbers" and rang them. The lady who answered was nice and helpful but could not help me so she transferred me to customer services and there was a prerecorded msg saying that I will be charged at 35p a minute so I quickley put the phone down!0 -
I advertise a lot on there with a private seller account, but took a break over Christmas. On resuming in January I couldn't log on - the messages I got indicated the account still existed but was temporarily unavailable.
Got nowhere with customer services (they just said try again later), so created another account - then got my adverts taking 8 hours to appear.
After 2 weeks of that things were back to normal with my new account (ads appearing within minutes of posting), but my old account never worked again, and soon after was deleted. I found posts on forums elsewhere indicating others having similar problems.
Unless you have some reason for being attached to your old account or advert (if you're a business seller or paid for your advert) then it's easiest to just start again with a new account.0 -
To add, from customer services I got no reply to email, a query I put on their Facebook page was just deleted with no reply, and although I did get through on live chat (with effort!), replies were slow, generic and useless.0

Thank you Big W. That explains why she thought that I hadn't advertised anything from 2010 onwards. Last year I had advertised a lot. I think I will set up a new account.0
