  • he may have been GSR & his ACS (the exams we have to take every 5 yrs) may have run out if this is the case then they will remove him from the reg & their web site, as DWN said you need to contact GS & find out what is going on,

CM it is the installers choice to have their photo on the GS site you can choose not to if you want
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

    HI all,
I've re-checked his registration number, and he is indeed still registered (I was searching under engineers, but he's registered as a business), and I have the certificate someone posted above. So, the installation is all OK.

Back to my original question: He installed a boiler with only 2 years warranty when I agreed to 5 year (and in fact had requested more than this).

Do I have any consumer rights at all?

    Thanks for everyone's help

Is the 5 year warranty listed on your quotation?

The warranty is supplied by the manufacturer, not the installer. If Baxi were offering a 5 year extension at this time on this model, and the install was done correctly under the T&C's and registered, then the warranty should be 5 years. It seems that Baxi are saying that he didn't comply, so why don't you speak to the installer and get his take on this?
If he's misrepresented the warranty, and won't compensate you, then your only option is a civil action against him to recover your loss, which would be the cost of a third party extended warranty for 3 years.

See the Baxi link above for what needs to be done.

If necessary I suggest that you write to him & Baxi requesting that they liaise & resolve this issue failing which you will be forced to contact Trading Standards. He'll probably want to stay in Baxis good books & get it sorted!
