Hi all,
I bought myself a pay as you go smartphone from a high street store in september last year and everything has been brilliant with it up until the last week or so when my SD card slot thats in the phone has only been working intermittently, ive tried my wifes SD card in my phone and it doesnt work so i tried my SD card in her phone and it worked.
Ive been to the store today and spoke with a shop assistant who said that they can only repair the phone which will take upto a week to complete so thus leaving me with no phone for the time of the repair.
When i said that my understanding on the law was that the phone isnt fit for purpose.. ie cant read an SD card, he said no and that it only applied to the first 7 days after i bought the phone...
Is what he says true or is he trying to fobe me off?
If he is trying to fobe me off how do i go about getting my phone exchanged and what laws can i quote to show them that i am in the right?
Would i need to contact their head office to get any resolution?
Any help/advce would be much appreciated
Kind regards Mark

The choice of refund, repair or replacement is up to the shop. If they want to attempt a repair then they are within their rights to do so. Get another cheap PAYG phone for £5 or so to use an emergency backup phone and whilst yours is in for repair.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Why would you be left without a phone? Surely you still have an old phone?0

Not everybody keeps hold of their old phone, many people sell them on or simply ditch it if it's really old. Maybe the old phone wasn't working, hence the need to buy a new one. There's many reasons why the OP wouldn't have an available phone and they should not be inconvenienced in waiting for a repair to be carried out. Hence the requirement for a loaner.0
