Got myself a nice jacket from the charity shop today for when the spring apears so i can loose the big winter coat. Just went to bung it in the wash as you do and read its dry clean only. Yikes i don't own anything dry clean and as it was from george at asda didn't think they did posh stuff lol
Is there anything mse i can do with it other than pay for the dry cleaning?
Fabric is a polyester/wool/acrylic/nylon mix

I would put it in a pillowcase, use a sock to tie the top. Put on a wool wash. Slow spin. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

wash at low temp, drain water, drip dry with rolled up towel threaded through both sleeves to keep their shape and stop hanger marks on the shoulders.0

Depend's, is it lined? If so it could shrink when washed. But if you do want to chance washing it,then wash on a cool, delicate cycle, short spin and dry flat, what ever you do keep it away from heat. hth£71.93/ £180.000

In instances like this they usually stipulate dry clean only because if it's lined the outer fabric may shrink and the lining rarely does which would result in lining hanging down etc. Personally I wash all my clothes on a cool wool cycle regardless and touch wood, never had a problem xGrocery challenge June 2016

Don't wash it too often though. In between wears air it out as often as possible. It isn't against your skin so shouldn't get dirty so only a good airing should be required and only very rarely washed.:footie:

When I was a student I decided to chance it, I put a coat in the washing machine with no detergent and hand wash cold setting, it came out of the machine fine BUT when it dried, the drying process pulled the wool out of shape and I never worn it again:o. So maybe if you dry it very carefully, like laid flat with loads of towels, it *could* work. Do you have a big morrisons near you? They dry clean any 2 items for £8

i never dry clean anything that says 'dry clean only'. hand wash and very short spin is brilliant and never had a problem. and i mean a proper 'hand wash' with your hands, not a washing machine 'hand wash'0

My son needed his suit at very short notice but when we looked at it it was filthy (he had previously worn it to a works do!).
We didn't have time to get it dry cleaned so I washed it on the wool cycle at 30 degrees, drip dried, and it was absolutely fine.
Good luck with your jacket.
