It does not have to be ofgem approved / calibratedDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

The washing machine will not use a constant amount per wash..

- ofgem approved / calibrated / meter or clock / coin or counter / so what ?
- having money / energy stolen is important - that's the point

End of the day its hard to prove amount stolen, however the energy provider wont care and neither will the police.
I would just get a sparky to discon the wire from the fuse box or even turn the fuse off/outDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -

Quite - I was just saying your comment on meter regulation isn't really relevant, and the above comments on police and criminal prosecutions remain.
The police are very, very unlikely to be interested in a matter like this (if you're lucky, you might get thenm to enforce if the landlord hasn't fixed it), simply as the landlord can claim it's accidental.
There is almost no hope of a prosecution proceeding, unless you could get a statement from the electrician giving his exact instructions, and demonstrating criminal intent beyond a reasonable doubt.
Small claims court is the way to go, if the landlord will not resolve it.0 -
Please don't waste anyone's time by calling the Police.
You should however check the facts. What exactly is the 'meter' you refer to?
More importantly, do check that the power being consumed is 100% being billed to you.
If it is, you need to speak to the LL and ask to be reimbursed for your loss over the last 4 years. Do this in writing too. If you get no joy, then definitely pursue via the small claims court.0 -
Also a qualified person needs to confirm the extractionDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Yes, I guess my concern is how I know if it is 100% being billed to me. All I know is that when I switch off my electric the machine turns off. So I assume it is on my bill, unless it is possible for it to be run off the mains but some how charged seperatly0

There's no 'subtraction' function on electrical meters, so it can't be subtracted from your meter. If it turns off when you switch off your electric it must be fed from your consumer unit, therefore on your bill.0 -
Thank you. He admited it, and has said he is going to get an electrician to sort it out. Im still working on sorting out the money side of it.0

Hi just a quick question, sorry if it has been mentioned and i have missed it but is the OP paying her electricity directly to an electricity company or is the OP paying the landlord via a sub meter, if it is the latter could the landlord already know about the washing machine and knocking this off her bill. If they are paying directly to the supplier, then it is quite unfair0
