    Really?

Please do let us know where anyone could obtain one of these (or equivilent) let alone a higher spec one, for less than £480 plus VAT

Edit: Actually that appears a VAT inclusive price - even more amazing if that were possible.

Yes, really. The boiler is a Glow-worm. BG make the cost of the boiler appear 'reasonable' then pump up the costs elsewhere. Take another look at the quote. Outrageous.

I may be wrong but I can't see how you can cancel it as it isn't your purchase or choice. You can, of course, advise your dad but he will need to advise if he wants to continue.
The bottom line is that you had a quote, it lists everything needed which is a lot of work and it is straight and accurate. It is at the high end of the price scale because it's from the market leader and guide.

Perhaps you could confirm the paternity of the BG330+? Flexicom or Ultracom? My understanding is the 330+ is a Flexicom HX with a Ultracom display.

    Tia.

    But that says £707.82
    I agree, an outrageous price.
Now where can you get them for less than a monkey from???

Doing the work within 7 days - Monday is the 5th day, is a bit high pressure. And wanted to deliver yesterday.

My dad should hopefully get his deposit back.

Got a call from the delivery firm for Monday, my dad confirmed it, so will have to cancel that.

I rang the delivery company and they cancelled it.

Then I rang the heating advisor at home on his mobile 079 number and he cancelled too, although he said I'd have to ring British Gas as well, and checked with me what brochure I had and what phone number I could see, but I said when I rang yesterday that the BG phone line said it was open Mon-Fri so I'd have to ring then. Forgot to mention there's an email I can cancel with.

He also said cos I requested a 48hr urgent thing that I'd lose my deposit. I said I couldn't remember it saying that anywhere but I have read the bit about 7 days.

10 minutes later got a call from someone else at British Gas 08009 number just checking that when I rang the delivery company that they did actually cancel.

Don't follow your logic. Check your numbers again.

Good news. Now ask friends, work colleagues, neighbours etc. for personal recommendations and compare the quotes you get in carefully. Post them up here if you want for comment. Ask those quoting to clarify anything you don't understand etc.

If plus VAT, depends on the Glow-worm model.
(unless 'previously enjoyed' or off the back of lorry then no doubt a much bigger bargain but no warranty ;))

Is your dad on benefit, i.e. pension credit or housing benefit, there are grants to cover this. My Mum and Dad were owner occupiers but on pension credit an got a complete new system for free. I think it is called warm home grant. Well worth looking into for yor Dad I think.
