Getting black hair dye out of a cream carpet?

I'm tried the shampoo and then separately the bleach. The stain is now like a rusty colour and the bleach has also lightened the carpet slightly around the stain. It's better than it was but it is still very noticeable. The stain has been there for a while so that didn't help.

I think it's time to stop digging myself a bigger hole and admit defeat. I will be resorting to covering it up with a rug!

Thanks for the advice from everyone on here. I thought getting rid of the stain was pretty unlikely but I didn't want to give up without at least trying.

Sounds very bizarre but I once got paint out of a carpet with nail varnish remover

Try a patch first but it came up lovely!

DH cleans carpets for a living and he says there is no way that you will be able to remove the stain, even with industrial strength carpet stain removers, the best that you can hope for is to fade it.
