Hi all,
OH is buying an elderly relatives car. As they have been unwell it is in his garage and SORN.
Am trying to explain how getting it on the road again to OH, he has only had company cars..
Need MOT and V5 to get road tax?
Need insurance before driving it to MOT. Then need to take MOT cert to Post Office and get roadt tax?
Does that sound right? Does the PO give a tax disc there and then? I always get mine via internet!
Thanks for any help.

Insure it. Book MOT. Drive to MOT. Once passed drive to P.O. and tax it. Job done.0

you need insurance but not tax for mot. 1 day insurance will suffice. You need to book mot test and have proof of it,0

What neither of the previous posters have told you is that you need to take the insurance certificate with you to the PO.
So, here's a quick recap:
Insure it
MOT it
Take V5, insurance cert and MOT to post office and then buy the tax.
Don't be surprised if you get tugged by the rozzers, your road tax won't show up online instantly.0 -
Thanks everyone. That is what I thought. Just a pain as we can really only do weekends, so need a bit of planning, with garages and early closing POs!!NOT a NEWBIE!

MOT at 8am plenty of time to tax it the same day. But they may not allow you with 1 days insurance.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
