Domicillary care and the Coucil

Hi, I am a bilateral below knee amputee, I have also suffered a stroke. I claim EISA (or whatever it is called) High rate mobility and medium rate care components of DLA. I receive a care package from a local company and use direct payments. The coucil say that because I get the care component of DLA that this has to be used towards my care bill. Has anyone else gone through this? I feel as though they are taken too much off me. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying to some degree but to take all of my care money sounds wrong.
Any one got any thoughts about it, either good or bad.
Thanks

They are correct. Your DLA is paid to help you cover your care needs, and if these are being met by the council, they are correct in allocating this money towards that cost.0

i get direct payments and receive low rate care.
i pay nothing towards my care, but if i go onto middle rate care, i will have to contribute £25 a week towards the cost.
i dont know if different councils have different rules0 -

Hi you can offset charges by putting together your Disability Related Expenditure
For instance any equipment you buy, extra heat, washing, special clothing or more due to wear and tear due to being a wheelchair user, fuel cost in adapted car, anything you think is related to your disability.
make a list, cost it up, keep receipts where possible and submit to council charging office re care ask that charges be reconsidered due to DRE.
I pay no charges due to doing this.
Disabled people have far higher cots of living then non disabled people and thats why its recognised when charges for care are made but not many disabled people understand this.
Also DLA is not for care charges its for the extra cost of being a disabled person needing care ( or help with mobility) it by no means meets the full extra costs just helps towards it.
Charges for care are an extra tax on disabled people something we have already paid for via national insurance and local taxes.
the government provides guidance on care charges which state we can offset the charge by our extra disability related expenditure
Do it its worth it
