Hardware Advice/Help

I will admit i am totally confused and need simple advice.
I have Virgin BB 20meg, the cable coming into the house is in a spare bedroom, it is plugged into a small black box with one Ethernet connection which goes to the desktop via cable.
I have bought a net book from my grandson (Aser Aspire One), i do not want to go the wireless route, i want to use home plugs as it seems less hassle.
Could someone please advise me on what i would need to make this happen, as i said earlier i get a bit lost with advice on web sites but have always found advice on here very easy to follow when i have asked.

a wireless router is a lot less hassle and cheaper to buy and run than home plugs and a router.!!

Either get Virgin to give you a wireless router or buy one yourself.
They come with 4 Ethernet ports so one for your Netbook and one for your laptop. You also have the option of using wireless should you so desire in the future.
e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-Rangemax-Wireless-Router-Cable/dp/B002EN8F8K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1360252619&sr=8-5That gum you like is coming back in style.0
