Apparently I have to fill one in before son goes to University in September.
No-one I've spoken to knows where to get one from. Any ideas?

Local Authority Form for what exactly? Council Tax?0

Who has said this?
Is your son at college or 6th Form? They are usually good with the university application process.0 -
For your son's student loan? They are assessed via the local authority and have to be returned there.
But really, it's your son's responsibility to find out what this is if he wants the student loan!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

The University has told him they all need to complete one.
The school office doesn't have a clue about them.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

If it's for student finance, there is the Student Finance Direct website with lots of info. If your son is in the 6th form he can't be the only one looking at Uni places. FE colleges usually have a stash of loan asessment forms."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Has you son applied for his student loan yet? If he hasn't, that'll almost certainly be the one. And if my memory serves, they're supposed to have done this by now ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If it is the loan form then last year my school had them, although if you contact your local authority they should be able to send you one, I think the deadline for income assessed applications is the 25th June. The loan form is called a PN1 form.0

Not sure exactly which form this is (I haven't been told to fill one out this year) but it sounds like by 'Local Authority' the Uni might mean LEA/Local Education Authority, in which case they are probably talking about the student loans form.
Both you and your son have a form to fill. You can do it online at http://www.studentsupportdirect.co.uk/ or your son could pick up a form from college. If the college do not have paper forms then you could also try getting one from a Connexions center or go to the LEA building yourself. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
Last year I was told that PN1 forms will be phased out and virtually all applications have to be done online.
If he hasnt applied for the loan yet, do it ASAP as it can be a big stress for some when they cant process it in time... having no money and then the uni wanting fees etc as you havnt applied for the loan to cover them.0
