First choice holiday village

Hi,

Looking to go away in the school Easter holidays, preferably te second week so around 6/7 April. We've got two kids age 6 and 3 and just want a bit of sunshine, some fun and a chance to spend a Week playing with them, them enjoying activities and a bit of relaxing.

Am considering a first choice holiday village. Never done all inclusive before as we like trying different places but the idea of a buffet with the kids really appeals and not having to wait for food etc.
Have never taken the kids to somewhere with kids clubs but agin it's omething that is quite appealing to think there is lots going on.

So far I'm very tempted by the aliathon holiday village in Cyprus.... Any thoughts? I like the style and it gets good reviews for food and activities.

Also any thoughts on the holiday village experience would be most appreciated too.

we were there in august last year and its lovely would def reccommend. We also went to the lanzarote one last month which was great to.
  • The Aliathon village is split into 2 smaller villages, the fishing village, which is more expensive but far nicer, and the aegean village, which isn't very nice, but cheaper.

I really like the holiday village tenerife. It's god loads of activities for the kids, some great pools, and the largest buffet restaurant I've ever seen. If you want to book it the best way to do it is compare booking it through First Choice with booking through the owners of the hotel, Luabay (click here), flights through skyscanner (click here) and transfers with suntransfers (click here).
  • We are going to the Aliathon this year, never been before though! Think it looks good and it gets good reviews but sorry no tips!

I've not been to a holiday village before but looking forward to it :)

We have done 3 of the holiday villages, lanzarote, Cyprus and turkey. Our boys are old teenagers but we enjoyed them all. Turkey was lovely and they had a lovely pancake lady aswell she made the best ever pancakes. Hope you find something x

We went to the one in lanzarote and it was brilliant so we booked the one in Egypt for this year then saw the feature on watchdog Tv programme this year and it put us off so we cancelled it and booked a different holiday to Cape Verde, in a nutshell the programme showed terrible hygiene and loads of people were ill.

Would definitely go to a first choice holiday village again but not the one in Egypt
Cyprus looks good though and is fantastic for the kids.
  • Hi, thanks for your replies.

Is there any difference between a hotel offering all inclusive and a holiday village? In terms of food activities or atmosphere?

What kind of activities are they likely to do in kids clubs? From what I saw my two would be in different groups. I think they run each day for a bit. I think the kids clubs might be important if it's not warm enough to swim a lot.

I've never done an all inclusive and think it will be good for kids but am worried about picking somewhere where the food is really bad. Gulp! Also it would be terrible if we went somewhere where hygiene was bad enough to make us sick. I've looked on trip advisor and seen mainly good comments but just wanted to know a bit more about what to expect.

Is it quite easy to tell if something is included in all inclusive or do you have to pay close attention all week?
Am guessing you get met by reps after getting off the plane/ luggage and told when you will be collected agin - maybe a stupid question but so long since doing a package I've completely forgotten and it might have changed...also I gather no more food or tv on planes!!

We really do want to take the leap, book something and go for some sunshine! :)

I hadnt relised they were split...Do both villages use the same Facilities? Or Are they completely separate? Are they close?
Whats not nice about the aegean village one? When I was looking at it I was looking standard apartments, just looked again and tese are in the Aegean village...
  • I think both "villages" use the same restaurant and pools etc. Think its just the accomodation thats in different places. I'm not sure how far apart they are. From reviews I've read some say the Aegean bit is a bit run down in comparison, but other reviews say both areas are nice.

The food gets quite good reviews, I hope there is local food, yum! Saw some good pictures of cakes too ;) hopefully the hygiene is good too.

We are looking forward to the pirateship in the pool!

Not sure on the clubs, never done a first choice before. But we will test them out!
  • I love love love Aliathon Holiday Village, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, i know the place very very well!

The 2 "villages" are on the same complex, both use all the same facilities. To be honest, if you turned up and the fishing village didn't exist you would probably be happy enough with the rooms in the agean village. But the fishing village is newer (if you look on google maps it isnt there!), so obviously it is more desirable. The Agean village is the front half of the complex, around reception and the 2 smaller pools, the fishing village is built around the big horseshoe pool and the kids pool.

With regards to the difference between this and a regular All Inclusive- the difference is the amount of clubs etc you receive at the HV's. There is a full time team employed by First Choice at the HV's that run clubs, disco's, basically everything for the kids. They get to know the kids very well and are always on hand. With a regular All Inclusive hotel what you get will depend on what the hotel offers. Some will have their own kids clubs, some will have a tour operator run kids club.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. :)
