is an opportunity to do exciting outdoor activities, meet new people and make a real difference to your local area.

If you want to have the same experience as the thousands of 16 and 17 year olds who took part in NCS this summer, then now is your chance! Places are available for this autumn.

Doing NCS is not just great fun, you will also be able to boost your CV by learning skills and taking on challenges that employers and universities love.

You will spend a week in July (during summer holidays) away from home getting to know your new teammates and having an amazing adventure. When you get back you will reconnect with your team and take part in skill building sessions, residential youth center which will then help you to plan and deliver a project which could make a real difference to your community.

At the end of the programme, you will be presented with a certificate signed by the Prime Minister to recognize the contribution you will have made to your community and your country, at your graduation

I got a letter sent home from my sons school for this today, £35 for early online payment. I hope he goes! He did the doit4real a few times, I think for a similar price. He'll be 16 though and I know he'd rather be working earning money for college.

They made it sound like he'd been chosen and this exciting opportunity will boost his confidence, reading about it online though I got the feelings they are actively seeking out 16-17 yr olds. Still it looks good.

Also in other areas- I work in Kent and we are actively recruiting. Yes we have quotas to fill and targets as the programme is so heavily subsidised that we need to recruit maximum numbers as residentials are paid for in advance. It is still a fantastic opportunity and young people who took part last year got a huge amount from it in terms of confidence building and community involvement.

They were recruiting for it in my son's school in the Midlands. Unfortunately though, the start date isn't in school holidays, so the year 12's are still in school or doing activities. Mine will be in Germany that week.

The year 11's can do it though, I suppose, if they didn't sign up for any trips or activities.

I asked about a different start date, and was referred to another provider - it may be a possibility if the start dates clash for anyone else.
