Who will pay for the new Carbon Tax ?

The government are introducing a new carbon tax from April 1st 2013 to be paid for by fossil fuel generating power stations. The tax will mean that a coal fired power station will pay approx £11 for every tonne of coal used to generate electricity. Many individual power stations have recently burnt over 100,000 tonnes of coal per week, which will result in over one million pounds per week being paid in tax by each power station.(The intention is to force fossil fuel generators into converting to biomass products).
Will the generators just pay the tax out of their profits or will it be passed on to us householders, I think I can guess !!

I'm sure we will get landed with it - on the basis that you get roughly 2200kWh out of a tonne of coal, we're talking about half a penny on a unit of electricity. At around 13p per unit at the moment that's a 4% rise.
