Do Loyalty Schemes Work?

Hi Everyone.
A bit of a geek alert but here goes...
Im doing an assigment on Loyalty cards and found a theory developed about 20 years ago... There are 4 types of loyalty:
1. Monopoly loyalty, where there are no available choices.
2. Inertia loyalty, where customers do not actively seek substitutes.
3. Convenience loyalty, where loyalty is solely defined by location.
4. Price loyalty: where customers are influenced by the lowest price.
5.
So my question is, do you have loyalty cards, or rather how many do you have and which ones. I know loads of friends with cards at Boots and Superdrug.
Are you really loyal to the company you have a card with or does it fall into the 4 areas...
I doubt I can use any of this info for my assigment as its not an academic source but would be good to see what people have to say..

In my wallet I have:
VUE Cinema Tuesdays Card
Showcase Cinema Tuesdays Card
Tesco Clubcard
Subway Card
Debit Card
Driving Licence
Railcard
Nectar Card
Shiny Alakazam Pokemon Card
Pick whichever are relevant0 -
I tend to pick up loyalty cards where I can and use them whenever I remember, however there are some I am loyal to. In my purse I have...
Boots Advantage - I use this whenever I go to Boots and love collecting points here. If I needed something like toiletries I would go here first
Nectar - If I'm in Sainsbury's I use it but I also use it online to get extra points. I only really go here due to location as it's close to my gym and there's a Sainsbury's Local on the way home
Tesco - I'll use this if I'm in Tesco I'd use it more if I lived closer to a bigger Tesco
The Co-operative Membership - I only make rare trips but it's closest to my house
MyWaitrose - I've only had my card for a week, won't use often due to location being too far
Cards I have but not in purse due to space;
Superdrug Beauty Card - Only use when there are special offers on that I want
Monsoon Reward - I only go in when there's a sale
Staples Rewards - Only use when I make a specific trip
Waterstones - Only use when I make a specific trip
Holland and Barratt - I have this on my keyring too, not a frequent shopper but I use it when they have their penny sales and for treats
Subway Card - I keep this out of my purse now due to trying to eat more healthily and watch the pennies!0 -
Thanks for your replies.
Mandatory- It seems like you are the perfect example of a "convenience" customer :j0
