I don't need another softroader and would consider a hatchback if I could fit a 2 dogs in the boot. I looked at the Volvo c30 but the boot was like a small porthole and a rottie would never have fitted in it.

I need something that can cope with potholes and dirt tracks where I live but am willing to look at anything apart from doblos and berlingos because I really don't like them.

    Then why not an estate?
Main difference is if a big dog can stand comfortably.......

My Accord Estate has a huge boot, perfectly suitable for anything from a beagle to a Rotty (or possibly Shetland Pony)!

Its not so HIGH as the CRV but its bigger! So 2 or even 3 big dogs can spread out comfortably.

Cheaper for same miles/condition etc. as a CRV..... same engine, slightly better MPG due to profile....more in a decent trim level (leather) which is always a bonus if you own any combination of kids, dogs or horses.

    Really, you'd drive a multipla?
