IB to ESA phone call.

My mate's had a letter from JCP telling him they're going to telephone him within the next two weeks about his IB to ESA reassessment. Problem is he's terrified of using the phone and never uses it, his partner does all the phone using. Any calls that come in when he's at home on his own go to an answering machine. They're going to ask him some security questions and ask if he has any questions about the reassessment process. What can he do?

How does this square with the JCP do they assume nobody has phone problems?

Don't worry about it. As it says it's merely to check that they have the correct details and to tell him that his ESA 50 form will come in about two weeks. If they don't get an answer the from will just be sent out anyway.

Then when the form has been filled in, it'll be opened by The Royal Mail, scanned and forwarded to the DWP, who will more than likely ignore it's contents. ATOS will then arrange a time for an assessment, and what has been written will once again be disregarded, and whatever you say to the HCP, you can expect them to write down the opposite!

I also cannot use the telephone and all the calls the DWP made went straight to answerphone (with no message left). About a fortnight later they then sent out the form which I filled in and returned with supporting documentation.

Two weeks later I heard back that I had been placed in the support group without the need for a face to face interview. :)

The system can work and there is no need to take any phone calls from the DWP. ;)
