It's a wonderful place. we flew with Ryanair and I think the airport was treviso. there was a bus to Venice, which is not as dramatic as the water taxi, but it is cheap and easy. Get a guidebook. It's much cheaper than a rep and a great keepsake. (Also something to hand over to her when you tell her about it if you are actually going after her birthday.)
The best thing to do in venice is wander around and try to get lost. the water buses are great fun.
  • If you're looking for somewhere nice to eat check out Da Mamo on tripadvisor, we had our best meal of our trip there and at very reasonable prices!
  • Hi,

We're going to Venice for the first time in March. We're going over Easter (not intentionally, it's my boyfriends birthday)

We got return flights with BA for £151 for the both of us. Found a hotel for £260 (4 nights) in a good location. Booked that via Travel Republic and only had to pay £1 deposit :)

I've not really thought about getting from the airport to the hotel! Hmmm, best do that now.

Hope you have a fabulous time :)

  • Thanks to all that replied - your advice is invaluable. Have now booked & we are sooooo looking forward to it.
  • There are some wonderful restaurants in Accademia - you cross over the Rialto from San Marco side if memory serves me correctly.
