They could dress an A!s in a blue rosette and most southerners and Tatton residents would vote for it.

    Good question, who knows!

Part of it is to await the moment between now and the next election when the Nation realises that Tory medicine is not working and is actually damaging the economy, this may take another year. At this point the Lib Dems will be trying to put some open water between them and the Tory fanatics.

At that point some fairly bland ideas will emerge, from the Eds a bit short of a policy but plausible enough to attract votes from those who have suffered the Tory excesses.

It will be along the lines of doing the sensible and prudent things the Tories are already doing but doing them not quite as badly and with a little more humanity. So that would mean less reform based on an ideological wish to change for the sake of it whatever the costs (eg the NHS) and more infrastructure projects to stimulate the private sector which by then may have had enough of the dogma.
Exactly right. No party in its right mind would publish detailed policies at this stage. Its too early...any decent policy would be nicked by the present lot. Labours economic policy will also develop as a reaction to circumstances leading up to 2015 eg state of the euro etc....but of course we all know the thread starter didn't want a sensible discussion....it was just a thread starter for a !!!!! fest by our reactionary right wing bretheren;)

Miliband & Balls of course, couldn't give a sh*t about the UK public & would gladly choose to watch them suffer for 5 years if it meant they could get their hands on some power at the end of it. If the UK economy turned around tomorrow & everyone, especially the poorest, were much better off, Miliband, Balls & their class-warrior (but suddenly better off) supporters would all be crying into their cornflakes.
Whereas Cameron and Osborne are not worried at all about power....all they care about is working all the hours that God sends to make all our lives better:rotfl:

In support of the post by Chewmylegoff, many Tory supporters on this board were orgasmic at the damage the GFC was wreaking on the the UK economy in 2007 and the 'we told you that Labour borrowing would bring the country to its knees' had them cheering to the rafters, (sickening it was) when of course it was a Global crisis that Labour could do little about.icon9.gif

    That's not my recollection.

There was plenty of 'Told you so' and of course the current mess in Government finances shows the folly of the massively redistributive policies of the Labour Government. Even Labour admitted that they'd spent all the money when they left power. I don't think there was any glee at the plight of the UK except perhaps from the usual people that think that they can get a cheap house but that's not Tories so much as idiots.

And that is not my recollection.

I remember being postively disgusted and shocked at some of the posts on this board in 2007/2008.

I remember one post that went along the lines "I think it's about time we had a recession". It had a really high "thank" count - thanked by !!!!!!?, Davesnave, Dopestar, Miss Moneypenny, Neverdespairgirl.....remember those posters? ...(not you though)...

    made me sick it did...

Labour had to spend money because the Tories left the country's infastructure in such a mess that they had no choice....crumbling infastructure is no way to get an economy to grow. Lack of infastructure will drag down GDP growth.

    But you know that....

I just hope that sanity reigns within the Electorate in that miracles just do not happen in the short time that the Cons have been in power, it may look to some that there is no progress in our economy but long term solutions take time, in this case what has had to be cleared up, which was a major disaster caused by many political blunders, it will take a long time, in fact well into the next Parliament at least before we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Nothing miraculous is going to happen - because this government isn't actualy doing anything to cause change let alone miracles- they are sclerotic!

If you keep on doing what you've always done - you will keep on getting what you've always got.

The electorate will vote for change. And rightly so.

If so then those Tories were idiots. Do you have some examples of those posts?

No, not so easy to find things from back then and I didn't save them, if I chance across I will post.

He is telling you the truth. As I said in my post above, I actually made a note of one particular thread that truly disgusted me - most of those users have stopped posting now but they went by the names of - CarolT, Dopester, chrisandanne, davesnave, neverdespairgirl, fedupfreda, Miss Moneypenny, !!!!!!, Norty Rascal....etc etc

Sickening it was, truly sickening...(well imho)...

No, you've just proved the opposite.

    Compare and contrast:-

in june 2010 gideon promised to end the deficit by 2015

Treasury chief George Osborne said his government will eliminate the structural deficit ...... by the 2014 financial year, ending 2015

Although of course knowing the difference between the deficit and the structural deficit would involve a grasp of basic economics.

If a large slice of the population doesn't even understand the difference between debt and deficit, how do you expect them to know the difference between deficit and structural deficit?
But good you pointed it out.
Let's keep it in mind when we get more spin like "we reduced the deficit by 25%". As structural deficit reduction has been much much lower.
