If anyone can shed a light on this topic. Please post. I'm totally bored by the party line now. As devoid of any substance.

    The 5 point plan.....silly!

    Good question, who knows!

Part of it is to await the moment between now and the next election when the Nation realises that Tory medicine is not working and is actually damaging the economy, this may take another year. At this point the Lib Dems will be trying to put some open water between them and the Tory fanatics.

At that point some fairly bland ideas will emerge, from the Eds a bit short of a policy but plausible enough to attract votes from those who have suffered the Tory excesses.

It will be along the lines of doing the sensible and prudent things the Tories are already doing but doing them not quite as badly and with a little more humanity. So that would mean less reform based on an ideological wish to change for the sake of it whatever the costs (eg the NHS) and more infrastructure projects to stimulate the private sector which by then may have had enough of the dogma.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

All parties were committed to reducing the deficit to around £80bn by 2015...the key issues are listed below...just click onto the policy areas to load them..

Its not the first time Labour have had to make cuts as they did it in the 1970's just before they lost the election in 1978..
If you look at the chart they inherited a rising budget deficit in 1974 and it was falling by 1978...;)

Anyone whos expects the opposition to reveal its full plans without being in power is going to wait a long time.
Thats the nature of the game ..say just enough.. remember Cameron wouldn't commit himself either ...as he kept saying he needed to see the books...well he would wouldnt he..;)

There is a plan on the website...so throw that together with the manifesto and work it out....but we all know if theres no growth then the deficit becomes a burden..

Does any opposition party have a laid out economic policy over 2 years before the next general election is due? or indeed any concrete policy?

What was the Conservative economic policy 2 years before the last election? or indeed can anyone remember any firm policy at all that has been carried through to them being in power and put into effect.

The reality is options are very limited though . The Government of the day hasn't additional money to spend nor can they cure domestic debt levels.

I've said this before though maybe not on this board, but paradoxically, the Tories failing will be a bad thing for Labour.

If there was no deficit they could promise milk and honey, but as things stand there will be a deficit in 2015, and in the run up to the election they will have to spell out quite clearly where they will cut.

They'll have to be honest as well that they cannot reverse any cuts, but no doubt they will blame the Coalition for that!

    Doesn't matter.

They're going to win unless the Tories create significant growth in the next 12-18 months.

Increase taxes, increase red tape, keep us in Europe without giving us a vote on it & reduce Britain's competetiveness to an all-time low.

So basically exactly what they did for 13 years last time round, except with no global boom to mask the catastrophic effect it was having.
