Help-just found out I'm having twins!

Title says it all! after finally deciding to go for a third and final baby (2 boys aged 5yrs and nearly 3yrs), went for the 1st scan yesterday (13 weeks) to be told its twins.
After thinking we were all prepared with cots, buggies etc, now realise we will need a larger car, double buggy, another car seat, baby seat, cot, high chair etc etc. (have already started scouring netmums 2nd hand section, and will investigate friends and family for goods we can borrow)
Very much still in state of shock, would love any reassuring advice on how we will cope!! (have checked tamba website too!):D

sorry no advice to give as i dont have kids but just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!
I am sure everything will be fine for you.0 -
Have you checked your local freecycle sites? The ones local to me have always got baby stuff listed that people don't need anymore and want to give away, in the last month alone I have seen enough baby equipment be offered to enable about 3 or 4 babies to have everything they needed!0

Ahhhhhhh, congratulations. Wonderful news.
I had my scan yesterday too. It never occurred to me that there might be more than one (and there wasn't).
Can't offer any advise, but I am sure someone will be along soon.0 -
A huge congratulations. It will take a while for the shock to wear off! We'd watched the film "twins" the night before we found out.
Anyway, my girls are now 15yos, and I had two more after them...so it couldn't have been all bad. It will obviously be very busy, especially with the others, but you WILL cope. I notice that your boys are 5 (school age) and 3 (nursery age) so that should fee a little time for you.
* Approach the local twins club - lots of info and sale items.
* NCT sales
* Freecyle, friends, local jumble sales
* Join TAMBA, also includes a discount card
* Ask for discount, most local traders can be quite generous
* Approach CAB, check if you're entitled to anything
* Stock up the freezer, to get you over the initial busy stage
* Involve the older children as much as possible
* Keep a notebook of all the info the Health Visitor will want to know, ie how
much food taken, medication given etc. Sometimes I was too tired to
remember and this proved very helpful.
* When friends visit, don't get up and make them tea etc, get them to make
you one and do the ironing or watch the children whilst you soak in the
bath!
* Take your intended buggy with you when sourcing vehicles, make sure it
fits in the boot! (Yes we did make this mistake).
I could go on for ever.
It was hard work, a lot of it was a blur, but I wouldn't have swapped a minute of it.New Mantra: I must not visit MSE until after I've completed all my chores!!!!!0 -
Congratulations

Ebay has a twin section that could be worth looking at?

I'm just glad you are lying down when they tell you! My b/g twins were 18 in Feb and they have always been a lot of fun to have around.
Re a pram/buggy - I had 3 in the first 2 years. First a coach-built Silver Cross one-each-end pram (lovely for walks into town and carrying loads of stuff, but hopeless in the car). Then a side-by-side pushchair with individually reclining seats for naps (very cumbersome and heavy) and finally a twin buggy - light and easy to use, but difficult to use on narrow pavements and in shops."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
congratulations, im sure you will be just fine when it finally sinks in, all the best.0

Many congratulations to you ...
My hubby comes from a family of four and his mum and dad did really struggle at times but they coped.
When you do have to buy items and you are happy to buy online then don't forget your reward sites like pigsback, ipoints etc.
Have you got any family that could give you some hand me downs?
Maybe ask your oh to go in the loft and look for things you could sell on ebay and put the cash aside until you need to spend.
Ebay is also good for job lots when it comes to baby clothes etc. There is also a wanted section on ebay where you can post items that you want. I've known people to ask for things for next to nothing and had replies .... if the freecycle thing doesn't work.
Anyway, good luck to you and all the very best. I hope your pregnancy goes well.
