Thanks to people for their advice and to those that contacted me by PM and were very helpful. We have just started things moving on a house in Hildenborough, just outside Tonbridge, suits us perfectly :D

You might run into Kelly Holmes (sorry for the pun) she's a Hidenborough Girl.

Lee Bowyer lives up the top of the village towards Sevenoaks (Riding Lane/Mill Lane area) Its actually his girlfriends family that are local I think.

Hildenborough is lovely. I grew up here and would love to be afford to buy there myself. I used to get the bus to school in Tonbridge as its only about three miles

Parts of Tonbridge are nice, the Hildenbrough end (Dry Hill Park Road area) is nice but I would avoid Longmead. Towards Hadlow (Higham Wood way) is also nice and backs onto country.

The south end of town (schools end) is quite expensive for such packed in houses, and if looking here I would steer clear of the roads near Hillview School and look towards West Kent college.

Other local options could be Hadlow, Leigh, Chiddingstone, Bidborough, Sevenoaks Weald, Sevenoaks, Penshurst, parts of Pembury (no train station) or even parts of Paddock Wood (I lived there for a while too) Tudely, Golden Green - in fact most areas circling Tonbridge are lovely!
