I want to quit my NVQ

Basically, I have decided to leave my job as Optical Consultant at a big chain opticians. There are many reasons and it isn't a spur of the moment decision.
The only issue is that I am currently in the middle a Level Three NVQ in Optical Retailing and have completed very little.
I have told my manager I no longer want to do the NVQ (because I don't want to lead them along), but she has told me that quitting is not an option! If I leave the NVQ she has told me there will be financial implications like having to pay the whole course fees back.
I am funded by the government on my NVQ, so if I leave will I have to pay it back? How much would that be? HELP!
Cheers in advance for any answers!

What business is this of your manager in this case?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
i'd have to get them to send a copy of something for me i didn't get one in the first place, its with Boots so my manager is the go between between me and my NVQ assessor.0

Under most training agreements you sign a seperate contract if the company wants to put caveats into it so if you leave before its finished or within a certain time period after completing you have to pay something back.
If they didn't get you to sign anything then I am fairly sure they can't make you pay anything back.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
I don't remember signing anything with regards to having to pay anything back, however in worst case scenario, any ideas how much would it likely to be? Would I have to pay it in a lump sum? I'm just a bit worried about it all. Thanks for your replies0

If the Government is funding it then the monetary value of the training/NVQ could be included in the contract between the provider and your employer. However I would expect them to build in drop-out rates and, if you have not signed a specific undertaking to pay for the training if you drop out, then I do not believe they can force you to pay a contribution.0

It is possible to begin an NVQ when employed by one organisation and complete it when with another.
How quickly do you want to leave your job? How quickly does your assessor think it would take for you to complete the NVQ?
What work do you want to do in the future? Do you have other Level 3 qualifications?0 -

In the middle but completed very little :rotfl:
(Don't worry, we won't tell anyone you've not started it yet)

Whilst it may be funded, the training provider may have charged the employer a fee or they could have a penalty clause for non completion (as opposed to failure). As an NVQ is evidence based assessment, unless you are going into the same industry it will be very difficult to build up this evidence in another employer. It may be worth contacting the training provider to see if there are any transferable units that match across to another qualification or if you have completed enough units to claim them seperately as you could get certificates for the individual units.0
