BT call divert

Our BT landline has gone down again. We saw the engineers working in the local cabinet, but they had gone before we realised our phone wasn't working. We have done the report online (can't understand how we have internet access when the line is down) we've checked the master socket using 2 different corded phones - no good.
BT have put a divert on our line to our PAYG mobile, which is OK for incoming calls but what about outgoing? We use our landline for calls up to an hour every evening calling 2 different elderly relatives who need our support. Will BT reimburse us for the cost of these calls - I think not.
They have estimated a week to fix it, not really acceptable to us. Hopefully the BT rep on here will see this and offer some help.

If you want a faster fix - you pay extra for it unless you are deemed 'vulnerable' and your line is flagged accordingly. BB will work when there is no dial tone, as BB is an addition to the line so this situation is not uncommon.
The date is the latest they expect service to be restored, at may be back up before then. Do remember to request bill credit for be duration of loss of service.0 -
Thanks Buzby, the old folks are "vulnerable" but we can't phone them, they are old school and "Don't like to ask"This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

It is worth telling BT and asking for 'lifeline' status - try are quite sympathetic, and if the criteria is met, they usually agree.0

Thanks again Buzby, I don't think we qualify. We told them all that, but the oldies still have their lines, so they can apparently still call for help if neccessary. It's just that we can't call them. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
