Hi Guys
I am looking to buy a used car for around 5000£ from a dealer.
I may drive around 15,000 miles / year.
My friends suggested Japanese cars.
I am thinking of Toyota Corolla, Auris or Honda Jazz.
And may be 1.4 litres and not more to reduce running cost.
At times I may have to use in Motorways for around 100 miles / day
This would be my first car in UK.
Could you please kindly suggest ?
Thanks
Jay

I love my Jazz, but if 100 miles per day is on the cards, it's not your most practical choise. The auris could be a good bet, but it won't be fast for that money / engine size combo...0

With 15,000 miles on the motorway, a 1.4 should be your bottom limit really, 1.6 or 1.8 may be better and you won't get much worse efficiency.
Small engines work harder to keep up with motorway speeds and use more fuel.
A Diesel Toyota would be a good choice. There is a choice of many corrola 2.0 diesels in your budget. Don't worry too much about milage, condition and service history is far more important. If you're doing 15,000 miles a year it will become high milage quickly anyway (if you intend on keeping it a few years).0 -
I would think a diesel maybe a better choice at that mileage.
I have a Mondeo 2L diesel and it will do 60+ mpg at 70mph..
I doubt a little 1.4 petrol will do that. My sisters 1.6 megane cannot get close.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
