Looking at moving into a flat by myself, budgeting utility bills
Options
Hi,
I'm looking at moving out of my parents' place into a flat on my own (living in the midlands). I've budgeted everything that I know, but at the moment I've only guessed at gas/electricity/water.
I'd be looking at moving into a modern 1 or 2 bedroom flat, so well insulated. I work 7:30-4:30 weekdays (so won't use any energy) and I'll just do a bit of cooking/playstation/tv in the evenings, and out the flat at the gym for a few hours 3 times a week.
At the moment I've guessed:
£70 a month for BOTH gas and electric
£25 a month for water
Does that sound about right for someone in my situation? I've looked around this forum but some of the posts are a bit old so I'd like some views with today's energy prices... Thanks!

In my two bedroomed terrace I shared with my ex our bills were around what you're saying there (also in the Midlands), but it depends entirely on what you have and what you'll use.
Make sure you budget for home/contents insurance, council tax, phone/broadband/TV if applicable, TV licence, food... there's loads to consider.
In total including our rent our bills were around £750, but as I say, it'll vary from person to person and the services you have in your home (Sky etc...).0 -
I live in a one bed flat by myself
I work longer hours so I'm usually out the house 11am - 11pm but on my days off I'm at home a lot as I like to relax.
I don't have any gas so all my cooking, heating & water is electric.
I was on estimated bill for elec at £54 pm but they reduced it to £19 pm as I was building up so much credit and now it's £9 pm.
Water bill averages £60ish a quarter.0
