claiming childcare costs - tax credits

Hi,

My youngest is due to start nursery for 2 sessions a week in July, with my eldest I couldnt claim any of the cost back as i wasnt working, this year i have gone self employed so can i now claim some of the costs back ??

Any ideas how much difference this makes ??

    i get 80% of fees paid as a single parent, how old is your youngest?

    he is 2 on the 17th of may (already !!!)

    He will only be going for 6 hours a week and will cost under a tenner but everything helps at the moment !

    i'm not sure but i think the cost have to be £10 and over to qualify.

    I think that as long as you work 16 hours and over and will be claiming WTC

    you have to have childcare costs of £10 and over to claim costs back.
    i dont think you have to get wtc i dont get wtc only ctc but i am still entitled to the childcare part of wtc.....

    no you dont have to work, if you are in a couple one has to work 16 hours + and the other person can be disabled and claiming incapacity benefit / dla / in hospital (incapacitated they call it)
    or one person i beleive can be in prison..
    but just because we work it does not mean we are entitled to wtc, but we can get the childcare element of wtc...
    not everyone who does work can get wtc if they earn above a certain limit, but they can still get childcare help

    Well im out on two counts as i declared that I will be working 12 hours a week AND the costs are under a tenner,
