Capital one credit card application

Options
Hi, I've had a bad credit history for the last 5 years. I have a ccj which I think happened 3 years ago. I am paying off a lot of my other debts in order to get myself straight. I applied for a capital one credit card for people with bad credit trying to re build their credit. I received a letter today saying "we are delighted to say we have almost completed your application however we need some more information from you" a basically they need 2 documents like my passport photocopy and a utility bill to show proof of address. I just wanted to check would it be a waste of time sending the documents off or have they pretty much decided I'm accepted but they want to check its me etc??

If its a definite decline then they don't ask you to send info in.

The information is normal identity check information - it sounds like providing they can satisfy that you are likely to be accepted.

Thanks for reply that's what I thought, it's all new to me as never had a cc but I need the credit in order to rebuild mine. We have recently moved as well so that might not help. I'll send a copy of my passport and council tax bill which is in my name

That will be why. If you are on the electoral roll at your current address then usually that is sufficient for a potential lender to use that to identify you.

If not then they ask for ID as in your case.

Silly question, how do I know if I'm on the electro roll? The council tax is in my name

You have to apply to be on the electoral roll - contact your local council and they advise.

If you don't specifically apply then you don't join the monthly rolling register - and the annual canvas (where they send the forms to your house) doesn't happen until autumn.

  • Hi H240. If you have been asked to send in documents then you have been accepted and your creit limit has been provisionally set. Once Cap 1 have receievd the docs, then the application is finished off, the account is set up and you should receive your card and pin within 10 working days. xx
